Description

Subtle in design, the moulded front panel visually looks very professional with a crescent diffuser moulded just below the tweeter. The diffuser not only looks great but helps direct the high frequencies around the bass driver. The speaker delivers a more equal sound to a wider area as a result.

The front mounted bass ports help the bass driver drop lower, moving more air as a result. Although most speakers feature a bass port, they are often found on the rear of the speaker. As a result most speakers suffer in performance if mounted close to a wall. Thankfully, Pioneer DJ have placed two ports on the front of the speaker, meaning the DM-40 is perfectly suited to being placed close to a wall. If you are hard-pressed to invest more into your monitoring system, then you can rest assured that the DJ DM 40s will still be impressive for your DJ practice, and casual listening. We would also like to make clear that it is also entirely possible to produce music on sonically inaccurate speakers. Every DJ needs speakers to be heard and the DM-40 range by Pioneer DJ is a compact bookshelf speaker system that aims to be more than just a DJ speaker. With various inputs and even inbuilt Bluetooth on some models, is the DM-40 the ultimate speaker choice for those with limited space and budget? In this review we find out! Build Quality

Success!

The DM 40 have a sleek design that is quite unique. Curved front edges – this is not only to impress visually but also to minimize the unwanted resonance of frequencies.

It comes across as a bit restrained, even rounded off. One could consider the crisp sound being warm, but that is taking an optimistic perspective. The DECO convex diffuser is mounted in the tweeters of the Pioneer DM 40, ensuring that the high-frequency content is distributed evenly in each direction. The shift is noticeable, albeit not exactly massive. For light studio tasks, it is capable, and they are a functional pair of monitors for light mixing and editing work.Great studio monitors are probably the most important sonic tool to help you create and shape your music – they are, essentially, your digital ears. With built-in amplification, there's no need for a separate amplifier. With a punchy Class D amp built-in, these speakers are more than capable of making themselves heard on your mixing desk. Simply plug the active speaker into the mains and connect the other, passive, speaker via conventional speaker cable. The DM 40 Pioneer DJ’s speakers are front-ported, which minimizes the problematic crisp sound quality reflection issues of putting them too close to a rear wall. The DM 40 monitors are missing some strength and accuracy in the top end. Each speaker has 21W of power behind them – this is not a lot, but more than enough to practice your mixing skills comfortably, and casually enjoy music, movies, and games. They have 3/4 inch soft dome tweeters with convex diffusers built into the monitors that use DECO technology from TAD Labs. The diffusers channel the high frequencies left, right and up to deliver a wide sweet spot and a 3D stereo sound whether you sit or stand.
