So glad to hear the good news about your daughter. Those of us who have struggled with family members suffering from cancer know how tough it can be. Columbo wearing a gun, however, or needing the mafia to catch a killer, I think is appaling. Not just sloppy, they are deliberate choices really damaging the character. A lot of these criticisms strike me as petty. Los Angeles is a big place with many homicide detectives and it’s eminently plausible that Dabney Coleman’s character wouldn’t have heard of Lt. Columbo. In fact it might be *likely* that Dabney Coleman has never heard of Columbo, as he has never lost a case, and presumably our hero detective is actually making cases and putting our bad guys in jail. They found traces of disulfiram in her bloodstream, but that's a pill that people with a drinking problem take when they don't want to drink. Caution: Murder Can Be Hazardous to Your Health is the only Columbo episode penned by female writers, namely the trio of Sonia Wolf, Patricia Ford and April Raynell. For all three, this episode was the sole writing credit in their careers. Ms Raynell served as Peter Falk’s executive assistant for many years. How I rate ’em

This only makes sense if the two had collaborated and why would the money-hungry Leon collaborate with Nancy unless she was giving him some on the side? What's wrong? What happened? What is it? What's wrong? - Are you a friend of Mr Creighton's? - Yes. A watchable Columbo movie entry but not overall consistent enough to consider this movie really among the best out of the series. I disagree with some of your speculations. It seems clear enough that if Suzie continue to lie to Columbo, she could be charged as an accessory to a crime after the fact. Giving somebody who committed a felony crime a false alibi by saying you were with them during the time when the crime occurred is certainly an example of that. The prosecution has proved beyond a reasonable doubt that the defendant cold-bloodedly planned and ruthlessly murdered his mother, plunging a butcher knife into her body. Oh, sir, I know this is none of my business, but your new partner doesn't plan to redo this office too, does she? Cos I like it. Final clue/twist: The night of the murder, Brower was taking care of a friend's chimpanzee. Columbo learns that the chimp liked to handle shiny objects, and finds the chimp's fingerprints on a medallion that was part of Lamarr's Halloween costume, proving that Lamarr was at Brower's apartment that night. When confronting Lamarr, Columbo calls Nancy in to thank her for her "cooperation" and to let her know she will be the sole beneficiary of the winnings. Columbo knew Lamarr would think Nancy has implicated him, so Lamarr not only confesses to the murder, but reveals Nancy's involvement in the crime.

Yes! Trish wanting Creighton to marry her bugged me, too. A lot, and for exactly the reasons you list. It feels like a weird echo of Karen, the secretary from “Any Old Port,” but Karen was a quiet, lonely, repressed secretary. Trish, as second in command to great lawstar Creighton, should have a line of young law hopefuls clamouring for her attention and no interest in the boss apart from the monetary, which she can satisfy much better by becoming a partner in the firm – which she demands, anyway! Are you saying that Marcy was having an affair with another man? Sir, it said in the Nothing in this report indicates she had sexual relations before she died. I admit I did have problems with the opacity of the mask! Were there tiny little holes for the eyes? If you accept the premise that Columbo has incredible perception for details, plus years of experience, then it is totally plausible that he could deduce a mask was being worn. I'm sure it's not the first time he's had to deal with murderers wearing masks. No explanation is given why Anders substituted his unsmoked cigarette butts with those of the victim's smoked butts. Only two cigarettes played a role in the crime; the cigarette containing the poison and the cigarette placed in the victim's hand after the deed had been accomplished. Yes, yes, perhaps only marriage guarantees her access to all of Creighton’s wealth, blah blah blah. We’re talking about a woman who makes a good living as a lawyer and is set to make a ton more as a partner — how is a little extra dough worth being murdered in your sleep or, hell, even worth being tied to a dude you aren’t in love with? Maybe we are supposed to believe that the amoral ambitious Trish had the hots for jerk Creighton all along, but why should we? We never see any redeeming qualities of Creighton, and even if Trish is a nihilistic kindred spirit of sorts, it doesn’t serve her interest to be with someone as selfish as she is.
