No more waiting around for your turn – both players swap between activating one operative at a time , so you’re never more than a minute away from the action. 16. Blow Up a Whole Squad of ‘Umies With a Squig Emp Grenade [2ep] – a frag grenade with lethal X, where X is the save of the targeted models. Since you generally take the grenadier you won’t often pay for this. Generally I’d use this on saves of 4+ or better and skip it against worse saves. GW revealed a ton of new Terrain, Sisters, and Tau 40k Kill Team rules ahead of the release of Chalnath, here’s everything so far!

Despite their clandestine nature, Pathfinders don’t take to the field unsupported – specialist equipment gives them access to detailed sensor data from orbit, marking critical targets while the T’au remain safely behind cover. x Citadel Miniatures comprising of two complete kill teams comprised of an Adepta Sororitas Novitiate Squad and a T’au Pathfinder Squad. These are broken down as:

When compared to the T’au Pathfinders, the Adepta Sororitas Novitiates are a very easy and straightforward kit to put together. Still, there are loads of alternate build options so you’ll be able to make your team look just like you want them to. Generally, EMP grenades become profitable if you can hit targets with 4+ saves. Otherwise I’d rather fusion grenade someone and guarantee a valuable trade. This operative is often the subject of a turn 1 investment of Mont’ka and Recon Sweep to slingshot him ⬟ (normal move) + ■ (Recon Sweep dash) ■ (Recon Scout dash)+ ■ (Mont’ka dash) for a total of 15″ movement before lobbing a grenade another ⬟ (6″) for an impressive 21″ threat range out the gate, albeit with the caveat that your Recon Sweep dash requires you start and end that particular dash within 6″ of a killzone edge. Communications Specialist Pathfinder The annoyance operator, which ignores obscuring and comes with markerlight on a pulse carbine. These operatives come with special sensors that allow them to treat enemy targets as not Obscured, and they come with the System Jam action that lets them reduce the APL of a visible enemy operative by 1. The Pathfinder kill team performs better when its operatives are working together for the Greater Good, and so a lot of the tips for the Veteran Guardsman kill team will also apply here. Pathfinders are still T’au though, with a very strong preference for ranged warfare, so here are some ways you can ensure they always fight on their terms.

The new edition of Kill Team introduced the concept of Fire Teams. Fire Teams are basically how you make up your squad. Depending on your faction, you usually get either one or two fire teams in a Kill team. This means that players can only field models from one or two units (i.e. Assault Intercessors and/or Terminators) as they are described in the Kill Team Compendium. This ability allows Drones to act as the target of shooting actions that would have otherwise targeted a nearby friendly non-Drone Pathfinder operative – another reason to keep Drones near your most important operatives. Markerlights I think there is an effective engaged operative gameplan that focuses on setting up 5 markerlights on important opposing operatives on turn 1. Against elites this sort of gameplay pattern can make things look hopeless for opponents. Having Ion/Rail rifles delete big chunky elites with Bonded and BS 3+ makes the elite match up one of the easier ones for your team. When running this strategy it’s best to have the Killing Blow tac op, and Plant Signal Beacon. Since you can generally focus on 1 flank and push up to score Plant Signal Beacon, while applying lethal firepower. The Sister Superior wears full Adepta Sororitas power armour and can wield a boltgun – the only member of the squad to have that honour. She has a range of wargear available to her (and, as you’ll see from her sprue, some fantastic hats), while her Lead by Example special rule lets her activate another Novitiate if she does something cool, like incapacitate an enemy. Die-hard Kill Team fans and veterans, this is a box for you. Expensive though it may be, Kill Team: Chalnath is a promising step towards a bright future for Games Workshop expansion content. Sure, there are some fiddly bits amidst the models and scenery, but the end results can’t be argued with. As a box of miniatures alone, this would be an impressive (albeit pricey) release, but that it comes with all the literary content you require to take your games of the new edition of Kill Team to the next level makes Chalnath an excellent release. Warhammer 40,000 Kill Team: Chalnath Review – Introduction

Team Structure

I mean, when it’s all finished it’s a seriously impressive collection of scenery. This is the kind of stuff that’ll find a home on armies on parade boards across the world this time next year. But, and there is, unfortunately, a big but, it is a real pain to put together. Warhammer 40,000 Kill Team: Chalnath Review – Price and Availability Taken in tandem with a box like Octarius, it adds a significant amount of content to any budding Kill Team collection. Of course, if you don’t own a copy of Octarius, you’re going to be short a few of the things you need to actually play the game, such as the Core Book and the accursed Compendium, the latter of which which didn’t come with Octarius either. And that’s that. It’s a heavy box, this one, seams bursting (quite literally in my case) with plastic. Recon Sweep allows you to Dash around the edges of the killzone, fantastic for getting early ground and setting up crossfires on the enemy.
